i got house on the brain

I've been lacking in the self-reflection department lately. And the friend department, mom department, bathing department and just about any other department that doesn't have to do with selling our house. It is shaping up nicely. A good thing, I know. But sort of bad, too...as seeing it so cute makes me know how much I'm going to miss it. It is hard for me to let go of things, even when I know what I have to look forward to is right and logical and even fun.

They're coming tomorrow to take photos and video so we can list it. So we've been working crazy-like to get ready. I am at the point now where I'm throwing away unused bags of popcorn and perfectly good crayons because I just don't want to organize one more thing. I know. Shocking.

I'm lucky though, because my mom came up to help. Too bad she's a slacker.
<span class=
All she did was empty my entire fridge, clean it, throw out expired food, organize my pantry, shine my stove and microwave, wash dishes, polish the counter top, mop the floors and clean a few bathrooms. Oh, and she watched the kids for a while. And scrubbed my outdoor furniture. And did all my laundry.

But that was nothing. Because I put a lot of elbow grease into this.
<span class=
Look how clean that kitchen is. And organized. What an important thing I did. Because I know those picture men are really gonna hone in on the pink kitchen in my girls room because that's what a buyer wants to see.

Seriously, we have all been working like dogs. Dogs, I tell you. Of course, if you worked dogs this hard, you would probably go to jail. But it's gonna be worth it...I hope.

I will be posting photos of our new house as some of you have requested. It's hard to post before photos before I have after photos. But I will. Until then, I'll leave you with a cozy look at our porch. Don't you wanna sit there and drink your coffee and watch the clouds go by?

That is one gorgeous house! And there's nothing like a mom for cleaning really good! (though admirable work on that pink kitchen on your part :)!). I know what it feels like to leave a house and miss it---even though you've outgrown it. Can't wait to see your new place though. If you want any inspiration, I have a seperate blog called "Evolution of a Home" linked to my main blog. It's all about our fixer-upper. We did it in three months, working like the overworked dogs you mentioned. We hit the ground running 24/7 (I know that just annoyed one of your commenters :)!).

All the best to you! Sounds like you'll be putting your best foot (or house!) forward tomorrow!

OK, I've just found your blog. It's been a lot of fun to read. I feel your woes on house selling. Mine is also for sale. I told my husband that when we move into our new home, wherever it may be, I am not cleaning it for a month. I'm so tired of cleaning a house for others who may possibly look at my house. Oh well. I can't wait to see pics of your complete and perfect home. :)

Oh I hope the market in your area is better than here! Our "adorable" (at least to me!) house has been on the market for 2 months. Lots of showings but no actual bites. Hoping God sends you the perfect buyer very SOON!!

Love your blog, by the way!

I am SO jealous of your front porch right now. Yes, I DO want to sit and have a cup of coffee. I'll even help you organize and clean. I'll be right over. Just kidding. I can't wait to see your new house!

That porch looks soooo perfect. They will be sold right there! Pillows on the rockers--2000% eye candy.

Yeah, too bad mom's such a slacker. When she cleans my house she only scrubs all the walls, dusts every square inch of each of the 27 wooden chairs I have and windex all the windows. I just move furniture.

If your dogs worked that hard you'd be in jail--priceless!

Best of luck with the continued cleaning and selling of your house. We are building and have plans to be in around Christmas so I am in the process of throwing away junk, junk, and more junk! But, like you, I am finding some nice surprises, too. It is kind of like a treasure hunt! But,Then I have to find somewhere special to put my treasures , so I don't lose them again. Oh well, such is life!

Selling my house just about killed me, but I did enjoy having such a clean house for a while. Did I keep up the cleanliness after the house sold? Of course not!

Take a bunch of pictures and make a scrapbook with them. I love looking at that scrapbook.

you poor poor thing! I know exactly what you are going through (except I've never done it with kids - but I might be sooner than expected)... You're not a slacker in all those departments, just busy in the house department! Totally understandable to everyone I'm sure! Please let me know if you need help - I am happy to help you with anything! see you in a few.
