love at first sip

It was December of 2002. We met in a Starbucks in NYC, the city that never sleeps. (Perhaps because of you...?) I didn't expect you would have such an affect on me. But now, I find myself looking for you after every Halloween...anticipating your return.

You are chocolate. You are coffee. You are peppermint. You are a cup of Christmas; a walk through an evergreen forest; a rich, minty reminder that life is good. In the midst of a hectic shopping experience, one sip of you and...clarity. Other drinks aspire to be like you because you are perfect.

You are also nearly half of my recommended daily caloric intake.

This has been an unfortunate discovery.

I absolutely love Starbucks, especially the peppermint mocha. It is to die for. :)

Dear sister, on your man's blog there is this beautiful picture of an orange tree. With lots of other brightly colored trees in the background. I wondered if he got the photo from stock photo.com. Or maybe you took it while in the mountains. Wait, that's a cape cod cottage under that tree that's orange. Oh my gosh, that's YOUR HOUSE. I didn't know that your trees were so big and beautiful!!!!! And house so quaint and charming. ode to a house.

hey emily! this is kelly heritage's sister and the benbows' friend. i love your ode to the peppermint mocha. :) i actually work at starbucks..they should use your line for advertising: "a rich, minty reminder that life is good." it's great!
p.s. this may be exciting or possibly less intriguing, but we actually have peppermint syrup to make "PM"s all year long. so you can have that "rich, minty reminder" in the summer if you'd like. :) kinda makes it seem less special though.
